Maya is a beautiful female Sa'luki owned by the Roman general in charge of keeping the peace in Jerusalem. She is seen helping to draw away enemy dogs and is the love interest of the main character of the film, Jericho.
In this story, she is brought into modern times and is the daughter of Solomon and Rita, and thus the canine princess of New York. She is the heiress to Solomon's throne.
